The implementation of sm@rt factory is progressing

This includes digital services, including augmented reality, which open up new possibilities. In smart factory halls, tablets and smart glasses project assembly and maintenance information into the real visual field of staff as a 3D animation and make complex information simpler and easier to understand. The "see more, know more" concept provides support during initial training and reduces potential for error, particularly where a high level of variation is involved.

Numerous customer projects, not to mention our own plants, prove we do more than just talk about Industry 4.0 by bringing our vision to life. Innovative concepts for a range of different logistics, assembly and manufacturing tasks are tested and developed continuously at our sites according to the principles of value creation – and under real conditions.

We are keen to pass on the experience we have gained.

Besides product and system solutions, we offer advice on factory design and production automation. Seminars and training courses give participants the opportunity to find out more about our solutions and sample applications. They also offer tips and highlight the kinds of obstacles that crop up while designing a Lean Sm@rt Factory.

Success through teamwork

SEW image

SEW experts join forces with customers to plan, configure and then implement fully integrated factories.

We use a multi-stage concept to do this.

  • The first stage involves determining the basic data, identifying potential and devising a schematic concept, from which we then derive the vision.
  • During the second stage, the findings are turned into a block layout and the material flow is planned. An initial rough simulation gives an idea of the processes in the factory.

This is then translated into detailed scale layouts and scenarios during the fine planning. Our technology and process experts plan and configure the system solution, using SEW tools to plan the pathways and radio messaging and to design the energy infrastructure to suit the processes.

Customers can take a virtual reality tour of the precisely planned simulation of the system and factory to give them an idea of the end result. We support our customers every step of the way with intensive project management, right through to the installation, startup and initial operation of the system.
